Maurizio Giannone

PhD in Tourism Sciences, works as Executive Researcher by the Tourist Observatory  of the Sicilian Government. He is Adjunct Professor in Environment and International Regulation by the University of Palermo. Member of the Italian Environmental Analysts Association (AAA), of the Italian Geographers Association (A.Ge.I), of the International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism (AIEST),  of the Commission on the Geography of Tourism, Leisure and Global Change (IGUST) by the International Geographic Union (IGU). His technical skills and competences are focused on tourism and territorial researches, data analysis, marketing planning and territorial capacity building. He is author and co-author of several scientific papers referred to cultural and sustainable tourism. He participated in E.U. programs as regional representative and in the National High Research Programme (PRIN) 2008-2009 titled ‘Mobility of regional incoming tourism. Saverio Panzica

Manager – regional agency for the protection of the environment – entity under public law for the ambient region of Sicily  he has held management positions in the following working groups: tourist information; travel agencies and tourism guide and courier; technical office; accommodations; project ”redevelopment of provincial tourism system”, marks for environmental management. Personal skills: ”legislation tourist” and “cultural heritage environmental”, “quality of travel services”, “marketing business tourism and the land”. He took part, as an expert and consultant, in the work of the tourism commission of the province of Palermo for the preparation of the following regulations: “village hotel” (funding to enhance the local tourism operators through the setting up of tourist facilities classified as holiday homes or apartments and rooms for rent); “funding for the redevelopment of the tourist accommodation facilities classified as a two star and the province of Palermo”.  He has held and teaching in various vocational training courses for tourism: Ifts, private master and master’s degrees, training courses for civil servants, trained teachers of institutes and training institutions in the tourism sector.  He has organized and / or participated as a speaker or moderator at numerous: conferences – seminars – round tables. He followed as a tutor or co over 50 graduate theses themes: three-year, specialist, doctoral research. Speaker at more than 50 project works to master on tourism. Designed and maintained, on behalf of AAPLT of Palermo the volumes and relative cd rom with the title: publications “the reference standard for tourist accommodation in Sicily” 1999; “the legislation tourism in Sicily and Italy”, 2003.  The brochure “quality of tourist services – charter of fundamental rights of the tourist 2005” “the regulation of tourism and cultural heritage and landscape”, 2007; “the legislation tour” 2013. “Paper quality-protocols” special project pursuant to art. 26 – l. 845/1978 nature of Sicily for “ANFE Sicily”. He has written numerous articles and reports on the following topics: tourist areas, businesses and jobs in tourism, sustainable tourism, tourism marketing, quality of tourism services and environmental services.

Economist with more than 15 years of experience in development projects, with particular emphasis on urban development, socio-economic and tourism. He actively participated in more than 60 tourism development projects, urban and socio-economic for the public sector (municipal governments, municipalities, international cooperation, etc..), private one (non-profit, corporations, cooperatives of artisans, etc.) and multilateral institutions (World Bank, Inter American Development Bank, UNDP, European Commission, UNESCO) worldwide. Essentially worked with international institutions to conceptualize, identify, design and implement urban development projects, socio-economic and tourism to promote poverty reduction, social cohesion and development by Micro-Small and Medium Enterprise (MiPyME). Founder of Target Euro in 1997.

His applications include mainly Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) , Business Process Management (BPM) and Energy Administration Systems.

Bernhard Bauer

Since 2009 Bernhard has gained extensive work experience in the sustainable cultural tourism and socio-economic development sector with international project management consultancy firms such as Hydea and Target Euro. He has assisted in Project Management and has been involved in technical assistance of projects in South America (Peru, Colombia, Dominican Republic), Africa (Ethiopia), Asia (Azerbaijan, India, China, Vietnam) and Europe (Italy). Bernhard has been collaborating in the preparation of around 20 project tenders of different donors (EC, World Bank, IADB). Additionally to the sound implementation of bid management processes Bernhard is also experienced in consulting public institutions (Province of Milan/Italy), as a tutor for online teaching courses financed by the IADB, giving lectures about e-commerce development to public commerce institutions in South America, and as a meetings assistant at the OSCE Headquarters in Vienna/Austria. At the University of Vienna he gained a MA degree in Social & Cultural Anthropology (2008), one year later he finished a post-graduate MA in Tourism Management at MIB School of Management in Trieste/Italy. In 2014 Bernhard will submit a dissertation for his PhD programme at the University of Vienna conducting an interdisciplinary research about the commodification of cultural heritage for tourism purposes with a case study in New Orleans, USA.
